Here I have attempted to succinctly visualize what structure this industry now needs as a starting point for a clearer way forward with the now vastly different dairy landscape that farmers are now dealing with.
Opinion
The Australian dairy plan now sees that Dairy Australia is now dived into four divisions focusing on specific areas of the Australian dairy industry. The Australian dairy industry will now come under and use one singular brand

It will show that the Australian industry is a unified and coordinated industry working together for the betterment of the industry. Having a single defining logo and brand will give strength and clarity to who we are and the products we produce both domestically and internationally.

No longer will it be state verses state. This is a simple but effective reorganization of our industry structures to better define needs and resources and avoid cross subsidisation of industry programs and initiatives. All four bodies will be co located for better integration and efficiencies

DA farmer services will keep being levy funded (Virtually unchanged)

DA advocacy will be member funded which should be the case for all advocacy groups in the dairy sector. It will have even representation from each state. The ADF role will no longer be required under this simplified structure.

DA manufacturing services could be levy funded by the processing sector or it could be user pays it’s their choice. Base funding could be what they currently pay to the ADF (this is the processors discission, if they want to take part in this new simplified and end user focused structure)

DA milk pool funding is via normal business practices. It structure could take a number of forms there is flexibility in its structure. It would control distribution and sale for the whole Australian milk pool long term on farmer’s behalf. This body is now required because of the dynamics in the milk processing sector. It has ability to simplify milk collection and reduce costs, fairly distribute profits through the whole supply chain up to the processor. It also simplifies the need for the mandatory code for the southern milk pool. As there will be no direct link of farmer to processors that will be the (DA milk pool Body) makes a nice and simple solution long term.

These ideas have no support, even though two months has passed...….I find this staggering. Surely it has merit sufficient to warrant exploring?

Well thought out. Would like more exploration here.
